Year 4 Mosque Visit
Yesterday, Year 4 were lucky enough to visit Canterbury Mosque as part of our learning in RE about Islam and other faiths. During our visit, the volunteers taught us how to write our name in Arabic, many of the children found that their names started with surprising letters due to different phonetic systems. Then, we had some fun tasting dates and trying on different hats and clothes. Then we learned about the role a mosque plays in the community and how it is more than just a place of worship. Our final learning was about the wudu (washing ritual) to refresh and purify yourselves before entering the mosque.
Everyone had a great time, the majority of the children (and even the teacher) discovered that dates are actually a very tasty snack!
